Mid-IB afternoon classes
You can choose which optional afternoon class you wish to take and these will enable you to gain new knowledge or improve your existing skills. You can choose two subjects each week. Each subject gives you four one hour classes per week.
Writing English essays
It is essential for your IB that your English writing skills enable you to write literary essays and commentaries on diverse texts. Students taking this class will be given the opportunity to work on their literary analysis skills, be introduced to widely used literary terms and receive practical strategies for writing essays. The class teacher will assist you in an analysis of common errors in writing and give you practical advice and help on peer editing and revising drafts

TOK is an integral component of your IB diploma program and the study of the issues raised in TOK classes will help you to address and debated the many 'problematic' areas of other fields of study. You will be taught how to construct a fair and impartial argument and how to present your point of view in essays and debate, in order to support or oppose your own or others ideas.
Internal Assessment in History, Economics or Science
Teacher assessment is used in many IB subject areas and this
class will examine the requirements of internal assessment in whichever
subject area you choose. Your teacher will assist you with the focus of your
chosen areas and provide you with the necessary skills to improve you research
and study habits. They will help you to improve your techniques of gathering,
organising, writing and presenting information.
SAT I and SAT II subject tests
As you know, nearly every college in the USA accepts the SAT
as part of its admission procedures and many of you will be applying to US
Universities. Our afternoon test practice classes will enable students to be
better prepared for the SAT tests by improving the skills necessary to
maximise their scores. Separate classes are available for each of the above
areas and you should choose the practice classes that suit your needs.
Extended Essay Advice
You may wish to take extra individual advice for your Extended
Essay with our experienced and well-qualified teachers. You will receive up to
two hours of individual assistance with your essay during your stay at
Stanford. The advice given will include a consideration of general and
subject-specific criteria and will take place at times arranged between
individual students and teachers.
